2010 MEETING DATES AND AGENDA

January 23 (Saturday)                      12 Noon                                                                FarWest

Refresher and Review of the basics.  This is a must attend if you are new or have forgotten how

to wire, and trim roots.  Plan on a 3 hour meeting

 

February 20 (Saturday)                    12 Noon                                                                 Farwest

Make your own pot using wire, fast dry cement & sand.  Linda Thomson will instruct

Bring your membership dues to this meeting and receive your membership card update.

If you wish to receive notices of our events, dues must be paid by the end of March.

 

March 18 (Thursday)                        7 P.M.                                                                    Far West

How to get your tree’s, pot’s and accent plants ready to show. This will be a great refresher on

Showmanship to help us all get ready for the Boise Flower & Garden Show. Be prepared to sign up

for times to supervise at the Show.

 

March 25 (Thursday) – March 28 (Sunday)                                   Boise Center on the Grove

Flower & Garden Show. Have your trees “spiffed up” & ready to show with a card noting your

 name, type of tree and tree age.  We’ll need volunteers to supervise the exhibit and demonstrate

 Bonsai techniques. Please check your calendars and contact Suzi Dethman with your times.

Show setup will be Thursday evening, March 25, between 3-7 p.m.

Schedule: Friday 10am-9pm - Saturday - 10am-9pm - Sunday 11am-5pm.

Workshop with Dennis Makashima.

Friday, 4/9 Doubletree/Riverside 6:00 pm: Presentation by Dennis and draw for workshop trees. 

Saturday, 4/10 All Day: Workshop on styling with Dennis.  Bring your tools and your lunch; drinks

will be provided.

Sunday 4/11 Time TBA: Possible continuation of workshop and/or bring your own trees for critique

and advice by an expert.

Grit Collecting Trip: We will meet at the D&B store on 12th Avenue in Nampa at 10:00 A.M.  Please

Wear appropriate clothing (It may be dusty & dirty).  Bring buckets for the grit, shovels, gloves and

Drinking water.  We will have the club screens for sifting and a permit from the BLM.

Bonsai Show at Far West: Bring a tree for showing. This show is well-received by the public and

by the staff at Far West.  Also a great way to create interest for potential new members.

Gary Wharton Workshop – Bring your 2009 Gary Wharton Juniper and he will critique.  If you did

not take the 2009 class bring 1 tree for Gary to critique.  We will have the 2011workshop Junipers

for sale at $60.00 each.

Mother Nature’s perfect natural bonsai or pre-bonsai.

Move in 7/30 5pm-7pm:  Bring plants that are in “show shape” (up to 4 per member). 

July 31, 10am-4pm: Annual Koi and Water Garden Show This exhibit has been very popular

and well-attended. Great place to “talk up” our society to potential members.

Annual BBS picnic. Bring a dish to share and your own table service. The club will supply chicken

beautiful autumn colors!

This is our last meeting of the year. We’ll enjoy good food and each other’s company. We’ll also elect officers for 2011. Bring a “white elephant gift” to exchange. You never know; there may even be door prizes.
